Della has become the most favourite adventure park near Mumbai and Pune, and is certainly among the best in the country. Located in the beautiful mountain valley of Lonavala, the adventure park and resort has every ingredient that would deliver a memorable, thrilling, and adventurous experience to the guests. However, being about a couple of hours’ drive from the main cities of Mumbai and Pune, reaching Della could be a bit tricky, especially to those who are new to the cities.
So here’s a comprehensive guide on how you can reach the destination from the two cities:
By Road:
Travelling to Della by road is probably the most convenient option. Start your journeys from either of the two cities, and you will mostly reach the destination within two hours. The Mumbai Pune Highway is the best route to take from either sides, and as you touch Lonavala, take the exit to reach Kunegaon. If you have a private vehicle, simply use the Google maps and you will face no problem. Alternatively, you can book the Ola/Uber outstation cab, and reach directly at the adventure park.
One thing to remember is that if you’re coming for a day’s trip via public transport, it would get a bit difficult to get an auto rickshaw after sunset. So if you’re booking an Ola or Uber, it is recommended that you book it for a round-trip. You can also opt for Della’s private vehicles, subjected to availability, to reach the nearest railway station or bus depot, charges for which you can confirm at the park.
By Train:
Lonavala is easily accessible by train from both, Mumbai and Pune. From the latter, you can take the local trains that run between Pune and Lonavala. You will find a local in every 30-45 minutes, and it will take around 1.5-2 hours to reach Lonavala station. However, though you don’t have local trains running between Mumbai and Lonavala, there are a number of express, superfast, and inter-city trains which stop at Lonavala.
Most commonly, if you’re traveling from Mumbai, you can take the Deccan Express (daily) from the central line junctions, like CSTM or Dadar, and reach Lonavala in about two and a half hours. Once you reach Lonavala Station, you can take auto-rickshaws from just outside the station, from where Della is about 5.6kms away. The auto-rickshaw ride to Della will take about 20-30 minutes.
Other popular trains you can take on any day to reach Della before 10-11am are Indrayani SF Express, Mumbai Pune Intercity Express, and Udyan Express, all of which depart from CSTM, and stop at Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, and Karjat. The best thing about a train ride from either cities is the journey exploring the majestic mountains, without worrying about the road or traffic. The unfiltered views of the Western Ghats, the hair-raising tunnels, the breathtaking cliffs, and everything you witness are simply scintillating.
